The Know Your Heritage game show series is designed to encourage an appreciation of different cultures by presenting information in an entertaining game show format. The specific objectives of the Know Your Heritage game show are to:

1) Foster greater knowledge of various cultures by sharing information about these cultures

2) Inspire all people, young and old, to have an appreciation of the contributions of minorities to the way of life all Americans (and citizens of other nations) take pride in and relish

 

Taft has participated in Know Your Heritage since 2003. Coaches Andrea Reed and Lucy Ko created a team to honor the memory of late Taft Principal Thomas A. Brown. Despite five years of relative success, (victories through the quarter final matches), the Eagles were unable to achieve the elusive goal of Grand Champions until the 2008 season. With the unwavering support of the administration, faculty members, parents, and friends, the 2008 team faced the daunting task of analyzing and memorizing hundreds of pages of Chicago history. Determined and confident, the team triumphed over the competition by embracing the philosophy "TEAM FIRST."
